My Bounce Kit Review: Why It is Not the Best Program to Opt For [2021]

Overall rating :  2.5 / 5

Bounce Kit could have easily been one of the best vertical jump programs on the market, considering who its creator is. If you asked me, I would tell you it’s a draft of a project in the making.

Training programs such as Bounce Kit have some parts of the formula right that can certainly produce some results but are missing important components all at once.

The program lacks a lot of information and proper presentation. On top of that, it does not add anything that I’m sure you don’t already know. It defiantly needs a lot of updating before it can be taken seriously.

It might bring you results if you figure things out on your own and you do extra research. But if you ask me, for $77 I would rather you go out and buy something well established that has been tried by others and has shown success to many athletes. This is understandable why programs such as the Vert Shock and the Jump Manual in recent years have held the top vertical jumping standard.

It looks to me like they’re trying to sell a very expensive product by simply putting Jordan Kilganon’s name on it, knowing that people will go out and purchase it.

Also, from further research, I found that people do not like it and it does not work well as it does not have good user reviews.

There are programs that beat the bounce kit easily compared to the price, time, exercises, and presentation.

The Bounce Kit Program

Today, I’ll be giving you the breakdown of Jordan Kilganon’s Bounce Kit. As you all may know, Kilganon is one of the well known names and personalities in the dunking communities.

Some people have gone as far as naming him THE BIGGEST DUNKER ALIVE.

No one can question his talent. We can all agree that his performances are mind-blowing, especially the NBA All-Star Game.

What we’re questioning here if the program actually works, or is it solely a marketing technique? Will it live up to his name? And can the 12-week program help you become as good of a dunker as Jordan Kilgonan?

Let’s get right into it…

Here’s the unbiased, unfiltered truth about Bounce Kit which will save you a lot of money and time.

what is the bounce kit program?

The Bounce Kit program is 12-weeks long at a price point of $77. This one claims that it will increase your vertical by 9 inches.

The program requires 4 to 6 days of workouts, and for each workout to last an hour.

This is a digital program, which means that once you purchase the program, you will be given access to a member portal. You will be sent a confirmation email with your login details.

Once you receive the access and log in, you are welcomed by a video of Jacob Kilganon thanking you for your purchase and introducing you briefly to the program while reminding you to measure your jump as you train and recommends that you join his Facebook community. If you ask me for my opinion, it does not hype you or excite you into starting the program.

Unfortunately, you will notice that the rest of the program contents follow the same pattern.

Other programs such as Vert Shock and The Jump Manual have gone into extreme ends of detail when in comes to the foundation of vertical jumping, what works and what doesn’t. There are some basics that contain common knowledge: how to breathe as you lift and the fact that to continue making progress, you need to increase the weights gradually and so on.

In you haven’t done any training whatsoever, you may find it useful.

The website looks polished and sleek, but that’s mostly because of the minimal content on the website. The actual program contains 3 phases. I personally think the price point of $77 is a bit pricey when there are other programs that offer a lot more with additional free bonuses at a more decent price.

The core program contains notes, workouts and exercise videos.

  • The notes section contains a glossary of the meaning of vertical jumping and how you are required to train, etc.
  • The workouts section has three PDFs that you can download which provide the actual workout routine.
  • The videos contains instructions for every workout that you have to follow while training.
  • You can tell immediately that this is a general vertical jump training product.

The only thing that is left to investigate in this case is if these workouts even work.

    Let’s see…

Jordan Kilganon Founder of bounce kit

Jordan Kilganon is one of the best and greatest dunkers of our generation. He is a player who has performed one of the best dunks among NBA players. He is six-foot-one, which is short by NBA measure.

He has a 50 inch dunk, in JEANS.

    You read it right. FIFTY.

    Jordan Kilganon

But the question is, does being a successful dunker mean he’s a good trainer?

I mean being a successful person at something is one thing, but selling it to others and teaching them how to do is completely different.

First of all, I believe it’s important to note that he has no training certifications, so I doubt he knows anything about the mechanics of the body, how to prevent injuries or any important factors of training to be a great dunker.

And with all due respect, most programs that ACTUALLY work were created by licensed and experienced trainers. For example, Vert ShockThe Jump Manual and BoingVertUnlike the worst program that I regret experiencing, Air Alert.

And honestly, way before I tried the program and was purely doing research, the fact that he had no certification of any kind automatically made me doubt if it actually works.

But before I shoot my shot and call it for what others claim it is, I decided to give the program the benefit of the doubt and try it out myself.

I want to give you an understanding of what's going to be achieved when buying the Bounce Kit, because I do not want you to anticipate more than what it is, which I think is the bare minimum for a comprehensive, vertical leap program.

    Let’s get into the details…

    the Bounce Kit Workout Program

The program runs over the course of three months and is split into three phases of four-weeks. It is a combination of strength exercises, plyometrics, core and power training.

The variety of exercises is a good but the way they’re structured makes no sense. For instance, plyometrics are a crucial component of any vertical jump program but it does not get enough attention in this program and almost no post workout stretches, which are very important for in-between workouts muscle recovery.

It also does not mention any exercises that can be done days off. Alternatively, programs like Vert Shock has a great selection of recovery exercises. While this variety might seem good on paper, the actual program cannot give a good reason behind this particular training strategy.

Bounce Kit Inside the program exercises and workouts

The 3 Phases of the Bounce Kit Program

    - Phase 1 (Weeks 1 to 4)

Prepare yourself to spend a lot of time at the gym during the first phase. It is full of strength training programs that should be done in 5 to 6 repetitions. Although this is a very difficult phase, especially in you have no experience in weightlifting, it is one of the strongest parts of the program.

The process is divided into three separate days of training:

    • Upper Body & Core
    • Jumping & Core
    • Heavy Legs

It has a good selection of lower body workouts that activate muscles very important to vertical jumping.

It also uses science based low-repetition which focuses on gaining strength using exercises that utilize both power and quickness.

The first phase also contains upper body exercises that are very boring and are not as inclusive. Unfortunately, the first phase will barely do anything for your vertical jump, which might cause you to lose motivation easily.

It barely provides the trainee with any justification or the science behind the exercises.

Phase 1: Week 1 to 4 of Bounce Kit

    - Phase 2 (Weeks 5 to 8)

This phase will have more effect on your vertical. During this phase, you will move to a more powerful training There are still many strength exercises like upper body, core and jumping, but instead of maximizing your efforts, you’ll be minimizing the load up to 70% of each rep. you’ll be training 4 to 5 times a week.

Heavy workouts for your legs will be replaced by lighter leg workouts. The reason behind this is that you’ll be using lighter weights to focus on your movements. Throughout this period you’ll be doing more repetitions and adding power exercises.

You will be doing more jumping than in the first phase. I think this is a bit misplaced because there’s not as much jumping in phase one. Therefore, you might injure yourself.

Phase 2: Week 5 to 8 Of Bounce Kit Program

    - Phase 3 (Weeks 9 to 12)

The finale of the program focuses on building on the achievements

in mass and strength that have accumulated during the first two phases of training. This phase focuses on plyometrics and explosiveness. The downfall is that there is no reason as to why he had left out such key exercises until late into the training program.

Training days will be reduced to four times a week with a reduction to 50% in leg workouts per repetition. During this phase your muscles will exercise explosiveness a lot more than strength.

Phase 3: Week 9 to 12 of Bounce Kit

The Principles of the Bounce Kit Program

The program was put together to focus on strength during the first 4 weeks and then shifts to a different direction during the last 4 weeks.

As you’ve noticed the repetitions and weights reduces so strength can be translated into explosive strength. A lot of focus is on upper body and core exercises, which are very crucial for a phenomenal vertical jump.

The downfall is that there is no coverage of technique or form. Therefore, if these exercises are not done right, it is completely useless. It’s almost as if he’s not sure why some things are done or what method will give you the best results.

Have a look at their website. Well, actually you don't need to...I will save you the time. I left a picture somewhere down below, and this pretty much the whole blog..

The Good and the Bad of Bounce Kit

Here are some things that I liked and some that I did not.

    The Pros

    1- It is Demonstrated Well

The program is formed out of very high quality videos that demonstrate the exercises well. They are very comparable to workouts supervised by an in-person trainer.

well demonstrated and high quality videos

    2- Straightforward

Bounce Kit does not need any substitute exercises unlike some other programs. This may be a negative point to some people on the other hand, because not everyone has access to the gym and equipment.

    bounce kit is straight forward

    3- Great Strength Training Routine

The best part of the program is the strength training. The exercises put together target all necessary muscles that will maximize your potential of achieving a good vertical jump.

If the exercises were followed up and supported by a good plyometric exercise, the program would have been a great success.

    excellent strength training routine

4- The Program has a Great Warm Up Routine

Kilganon has introduced a good warm-up routine that activates all the important muscles and get the body ready for the following exercises.

This may seem insignificant, but a proper warm-up routine for the muscles is very essential to prep the body to perform at its best during training, and it also helps with preventing any injuries.

    great warm up routine

    the Cons

    1- No Variety In Plyometrics

The program contains a lot of basic workouts and has no diversity in the selection of exercises. Such programs will do nothing for your vertical jump.

    lack of variety

    2- Too Many Strength Workouts

A strong body and strength foundation will help you get to the perfect jump, but excessive strength training will limit that potential. It will take a long time to reach your goal.

Although the weights are gradually reduced, Bounce Kit lacks focus on plyometric exercises increasing your speed.

    too much strength workout

3- Lacks Information on Form and Technique

Another thing Bounce Kit lacks is informative on the type of movement that will get you the best results. Bounce Kit fail miserably to teach you the scientific principles behind ideal vertical jump results. The program leaves it to you to figure out what’s the right form and technique to perform every exercise.

You don't know what you are doing, and you may have a tough time getting through the entire three months despite how the drills appear to be coordinated. Sadly, this is the most important part of the entire workout routine. If you’re not doing it properly, you won’t see results.

This makes the program look like a regular workout routine rather than a proper vertical jump training program.

    lack of technique

    4- Lacks Post-Workout Stretching

Here’s one more thing that is very important, but the program does not mention.

It's just as essential to stretch as working out.

Stretching is important for muscle recovery after every workout. It makes sure that the muscles stay flexible.

It mentions that you need to stretch on your days off, but once more forgets to mention what type of stretches are most effective and need to be done.

5- Needs a Gym and Equipment

Bounce Kit pays a lot of tribute and emphasizes on using a gym and equipment. For someone who does not have enough resources, the program will not work.

And because the program is very inflexible as I mentioned earlier, it does not offer any substitutions for workouts.

A better alternative in that chase is Vert Shock, which was created by a professional basketball player named Adam Folker. It does not require equipment and can be done anywhere, at any time.

You can check out my results here.

    requires gym

    6- The Program is Complex

The program recommends that you measure your performance and decide on how much weights you need to work out with. This takes a lot of time.

Bounce Kit lacks a lot of guidance which can make less athletic trainees’ workouts less effective.

    complex program

    7- Program is Incomplete

There are a lot of missing information that is too important to be left out. Therefore it cannot be deemed as a complete product.

There are so many unfinished parts in the program, and the lack of guidance offered by Jordan makes this program ineffective. You begin start rethinking why the program is constructed in the way it is or if it is good enough to justify the strong three-month workout it needs.

    incomplete program

    Bounce Kit Alternatives

    1-) Vert Shock

This must be the best programs on the market, and the most successful. For someone who needs to speed up their vertical, I would suggest it.

Adam Folker developed the program which combines modified and plyometric movements and strategies that will help you in less than 8 weeks to achieve your target.

The benefit is that you not only improve your jump, but you also learn to shoot a basket properly. And the most important part of it? You don't have to visit the fitness center or use any equipment. These exercises will take more than an hour to complete at home or in the park. Too many athletes say it helps you achieve a higher jump, and for a program that is successful as such, it doesn't cost too much.

You can check my before and after review Here.

    2-) The Jump Manual

Before Vert Shock was introduced, the most reputable program was The Jump Manual. In 2007, the program was established, and the vision of people was totally modified on vertical jumping.

The program covers everything. The best athletes merged every exercise, workout, tip, trick, or technique with an e-course for those who dream of a higher leap.

Alternatively to Vert Shock, if you enjoy hitting the gym, you'll love this plan because the weight lifting needs insistence and supplies.

You can check my full review Here.

    Conclusion

Overall, the program is very dull. Nothing in it stands out or excites you into trying it out. And, there’s a lot of important information that is not covered.

Would I pay $77 for it?

Maybe $25 or $30, but absolutely not $77.
