How To Increase Your Vertical In 4 Weeks: My Vert Shock Training Progress

Increase of vertical in week 4 and dunk

The First Dunk With Vert Shock

Within 4 weeks of training using Vert Shock, I was able to dunk. I do admit it wasn’t the greatest, but it was a dunk regardless. I was surprised it happened so fast, and that made me excited to keep training on the program.

I am halfway through training. At this point, I was able to see myself making a lot progress. On top of that, I have the best news. I am finally able to dunk.

I got home from class, had lunch and head to the basketball court. I like to measure my progress right after my training, as I am still active, and my knees are still springy. I like it even more when the court is empty, and I have no one to judge or make fun of me.

On that specific weekend, I decided to test my vertical properly for the first time. I felt loose and began to tap the backboard to the highest position with light jumps without a basketball.

I noticed right away that this was the highest I had jumped since I had started my training. So, I grabbed the ball and took my shot. At first, I did not score, and I was really disappointed, but I did not let it get in my way. I picked up the ball once more and I tried once more…

Again…

Again…

And again…

My Rating

4.6/5 stars

By the fifth try, I shot my first dunk. I couldn’t believe it. I could actually dunk. I was over the moon. I wanted to do nothing but dunk over and over again, but I knew I could not exhaust my powers.

I knew fully well that it was not the best dunk, but still, I was excited to see myself ACTUALLY making progress.

How to Measure Your Vertical Easily

I thought of ways to monitor my vertical jump, and I felt I had a good approach. I have bought self-adhesive measurement tape and stuck it to the board of the hoop. I practice on that hoop all the time at the court, so it made perfect sense. I cut the measuring tape into a length of the goal I was trying to reach, so that when I jump, I could reach the highest tip of the tape.

I could see that I was getting closer to reaching my goal of 37 inches, but I was behind on a few inches. I am not as able to jump as high with the ball in my hand, but that’s okay. I know I still need more practice.

This by far has been my favorite week of vert shock training. Being able to dunk has sparked my motivation to work harder. I am looking forward to dunk more and better within the next few weeks.
